Condemnation Statement

Yemeni Women Empowerment Foundation: Houthi attacks on airports and civilian facilities in Saudi Arabia are war crimes that require accountability and urgent international deterrence

The Yemen Women Empowerment Foundation (YWEF) condemns in the strongest terms the continued bloody terrorist crimes committed by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia, and its repeated targeting of civilian airports, residential areas, and vital and service facilities, in A serious criminal escalation that threatens the lives of millions of civilians and undermines the security of the region and the safety of international air navigation.

The Foundation confirms that the bloody Houthi attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which according to official data resulted in the death of 12 people and the injury of 309 others, in addition to the repeated attacks on Riyadh and Abha airports and civilian facilities in the Eastern Province, represents an extension of a series of crimes systematically committed by the militia against civilians inside and outside Yemen, leading to the attack on a power station serving the Prophet's Mosque in Medina.

The Foundation stresses that the deliberate targeting of civilians, airports and civilian objects constitutes war crimes in accordance with international humanitarian law, and that indiscriminate and disproportionate attacks cannot be justified by any political or military pretext.

The Foundation holds the leadership of the Houthi militia fully responsible for the attacks carried out by its forces and the resulting deaths, injuries and destruction, and confirms that these crimes reveal the seriousness of the continued impunity of the militia leaders and their continued use of ballistic missiles and drones to target civilians and internationally protected facilities.
The Foundation calls on the Security Council and the United Nations to take urgent international action to stop the Houthi attacks, prosecute and hold accountable those responsible for war crimes, stop supplying the militia with weapons used to target civilians, and take deterrent measures to prevent the recurrence of these crimes.

The Foundation renews its full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and affirms its legitimate right to protect its sovereignty and the security of its citizens and residents on its territory, and to take legitimate measures to deter attacks in accordance with international law.

The Foundation warns that the continued international silence and lax accountability of the Houthi militia gives it more opportunities to commit crimes, stressing that protecting civilians and ending impunity is an urgent necessity that cannot be postponed.

The Foundation extends its sincere condolences to the families of the victims of various nationalities, wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.
